2016 saw massive growth in the number of real estate agents and record breaking sales. Now with more than 18,000 agents (+20.7 %) in 1,700 offices all over Europe, the RE/MAX network continues to be number one in helping customers find the perfect home. With a total commission of more than 400 million Euros, the network’s income has grown by 75 percent over the last 4 years. Commissions increased as well, mostly in Portugal (+ 20 %) and Italy (+ 46 %). Both countries, together with Turkey, saw the largest agent growth in 2016: Portugal has passed the 5,000 agents mark, Turkey now has more than 3,000 agents and the number in Italy rose above 2,000. 2016 also marks the year with the highest number of newly sold franchises since 2008.
20.7 percent more agents to fulfill client needs
With 3,134 new agents in the RE/MAX network this year, the total number of agents surpassed 18,000 across Europe, and the Turkish, Italian and Portuguese markets have proven especially successful in this regard. Agent growth will continue to be a top priority in 2017 in order to meet the increasing needs of customers.
2016 was not only a record-breaking year regarding agent numbers, but also the year with the highest number of newly sold franchises since 2008. Italy, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Israel and the Czech Republic have been at the forefront with franchise sales, while many other countries in the RE/MAX network have been successful as well.
22,000 agents by the end of 2017
Michael Polzler forecasts 2017 to be another year of growth: “We see that the requirements and needs of clients are getting more specific and their demands continue to increase. In order to fulfill these and keep our high-quality standards, the year ahead is fully devoted to further growth.” Polzler’s goal – 22,000 agents by the end of 2017 – will not only secure RE/MAX’s leadership position in Europe, but will open up even more opportunities for a career in real estate.
